    Yes, the Recluse …
Yes, the Recluse Spiders live throughout all of Northern, Central, and Southern California. The worst part is, it’s the more dangerous cousin known as the Chilean Recluse. Why are they so dangerous? They are the largest of the Recluse Species, and also there venom is said to be the worst of all Recluse Spiders. So, largest Recluse Spider equals larger venom glands, more venom, and more destruction. However, they mostly wander in the country side, and avoid most of the big cities.

Yes, the Sydney Funnel Web is an Australian Spider, and it is known to have killed a living human in under 15 minutes. They hold a toxin known as Atrax O Toxin which is not dangerous to most mammals, but is extremely dangers to humans, and apes.

    Size isn’t really a …
Size isn’t really a good measure of whether a spider is ‘bad’ or not. Most large wolf spiders, orb spiders and even tarantulas do little damage, if you’re super unlicky to get bitten by one. It’s redbacks and funnelwebs in Australia, recluses and widows in the US and Brazilian wanderers that are the most ‘dangerous’ in terms of potential damage and the likelihood of being bitten (i.e. accidental bites where you’re not even sure what just happened!). Regards.

    As for the wolf …
As for the wolf spiders, we have the same thing in Australia, our wolf spiders have really nasty bites and love walking around your backyard, much like Funnel Webs (most deadly spider in the world).

  20. ajnode Says:

    Wood spiders are …
Wood spiders are basically like small versions of the Orb weavers we have here, I’ve seen Orbs eating birds about the same size as them. But like orbs, Wood’s aren’t very agressive, so you’d have to actually either annoy it or get it on you and stress it for it to bite. Even so, the bite wouldn’t be too bad. These brown recluse spiders though are pretty creepy. The Australian equivalent are White Tail spiders, common where I live. They cause necrosis, are walking hunters and very agressive.
