What to do about infestation of Brown Recluse spiders and is the landlord legally responsible?
Okay, I’m about to sound like a looney, but I wanted to give you some good advice…
Find a health food store and buy "activated charcoal powder"
If you are ever bitten by a brown recluse bite.. make a poultice and apply, changing frequently..
I’m serious.. this, if done properly, will draw out the poision.. CHarcoal is well known as a powerful poison asorbant.. This is not an old wives tale remedy, it is scientifically backed.. It is powerful in absorbing poisions and toxins… Application and ingestion of charcoal is what saved the life of an 18 year old boy at the school I worked at. He was stung by a bee, and almost died (allergic).. I was there.. he couldn’t breathe… The school was out in the country, far away from hospitals.. The principal (a nurse) thought she was going to have to do an emergency tracheotomy.. but someone had a few charcoal tablets in a first aid kit.. they eased his symptoms enough to keep him alive until he could get to a hospital..
By all means see your doctor too, but if you do this, you can save yoruself from possibly having chunks of flesh surgically removed.
Catch it quick.. If you get anything that looks like a mosquito bite, watch it carefully.. If it shows any signs of getting worse instead of better, apply the charcoal..
You don’t want to mess around with Brown Recluse bites.. they can cause serious damage…
Here’s a website that tells you how to make a "charcoal poultice" http://www.charcoalremedies.com/stories/how2make.htm
May be just spray bug spray or set off a fogger. My son was bitten by a brown recluse spider when he was little, it was horrible and he needed anti biotics. I read that a lady had to get her arm amputated after she was bitten by one on the hand.

Please check with an attorney in your area-for the landlord/tenant laws of your state.
I do believe the landlord is responsible for the infestation to be removed by pest control. Take care.

Those things pose a serious threat to his/her tenants. Your house needs a good exterminator. Clark does an excellent job and you can tell your landlord that it’s only 45.00/mo. They even go around the outside and clean off all cobwebs. I you see any bugs after they have already been there, call them and they’ll come back at no charge. And as often as it takes.

I use Clark
Send a certified letter to your landlord and indicate your concern. I am no legal expert. But it is the landlord’s responsibility to maintain the house and keep it in livable condition. If he doesn’t act on a serious matter such as this, and someone gets bitten in the house, he can be in serious trouble. But you dont’ want him to claim nobody made him aware of the situation. Make him aware in writing and tell him you expect him to treat it. If he doesn’t, you may be able to legally break your lease. He can treat the place for $25/month. An ethical landlord would do that. Just don’t keep silent. Maybe you can put a note on the rent check "by signing this check, you acknowlege the presence of brown recluse spiders in apt. 3a."

First: Yes your landlord should be spraying your place at least every three months. I would call him or her about the problem and if he does not have the time to do it or call someone then just ask him if it is alright if you call one and take the cost off your rent.
That is what I would do.
